Harriet is a Dutch photographer who lives in the centre of Holland.
From a very early age on she learned to observe; first by visiting many of Europe's musea & cathedrals. Later, from the age of six, by practicing with her first camera. It is this well developed quality that allows Harriet to show us the beauty of nature in her own distinctive manner. She refers to her work as ‘Coca-Cola art': easy and pleasant to look at. No deeper meaning, no hidden messages; just a salute to nature. Water & (life on and around) the beach are recurring themes in her work. Many of her photos reflect the fact that nature is full of patterns; many people therefore characterize her work as abstract, almost graphic.
In 2004 Harriet had her first solo-exhibition titled ‘AQUA 2004' in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. In 2005 she decorated the first showroom ‘new style' for Volvo in Europe. During 2006 she travelled around the world. During the spring of 2008 Harriet had her first international exhibition in France titled 'Instantanés'. Harriet hopes to start on her first commercial assignment in 2008; shooting the construction period of a building complex.
Photography is only a part of her daily life. During the week she works as a freelance project leader.
In 2005 Harriet switched from analogue to digital photography. This has not changed the way she works; no tricks, no flashlights, no ‘Photoshop', no compositions. It is only the moment she catches.
